More Housing Options for Seniors

Posted by: Roxanne Carr

Many of our amazing seniors in Strathcona County have built what we have today. I am truly grateful for the love, sacrifice, and hard work that have made our amazing community what it is. It's important that we, as Council, continue to honour the quality of life that our seniors deserve.

Over the past four years, we have invested $32 million into Clover Bar Lodge. This replaces 79 aging units and adds an additional 65 unites. Council also approved $22.5 million to expand Silver Birch Lodge with 97 additional units. This will help ease the strain on seniors housing in Strathcona County.

Moving forward, it's crucial we continue to focus on enhanced mobility. I would like to establish a rural bus route that connects Sherwood Park with Ardrossan, Josephburg, and Fort Saskatchewan. I will also continue to look at ways to increase additional housing as well as enhanced recreational programming for our active seniors.

I'm extremely proud of the work Council put forward these last four years. I'm excited to see what we can accomplish the next four!
